Hydraulic fundamentals

This class is designed to help students understand hydraulic principles and how they are used in the operation of hydraulic system components. Participants learn to identify the function of the various valves used in hydraulic systems and to identify the function of vane pumps, gear pumps, and piston pumps.

Electrical & Electronics Fundamentals

Participants learn basic principles, Ohm’s Law, voltage resistance, amperage, electrical/hydraulic comparison, terms, AC, DC, PWM, analog, input/control/output, wire maintenance, connectors tooling, electrical schematics, and troubleshooting. Note: Students are encouraged to bring a digital multi meter and calculator to class.

Powertrain fundamentals

This course introduces the student to Caterpillar powertrain theory and system principles.

Undercarriage fundamentals

This course teaches the learner the different components that make up oval and elevated sprocket type undercarriage systems, used on Caterpillar Track Type machines. The learner is also taught to perform measurements and inspections on undercarriage systems and to identify wear trends on undercarriage components.

Foundational preventative maintenance

This workshop is a foundational level, instructor- led course, aimed to equip Service Technicians with the basic knowledge and skills to correctly conduct and document Preventive Maintenance Service and Walk-around inspections on Caterpillar products.

16 hours (2 days)

Fuel and lubricants

This course provides participants with knowledge about fuels and lubricants used in Earthmoving and Heavy Road Transport Equipment.

8 hours (1 day)

Basics of Troubleshooting

This course is designed to develop skills in the area of basic trouble shooting techniques. The class is designed to train the participants to accurately and logically use a troubleshooting process to achieve answers to problems. It teaches a logical step-by-step process that can be used in any troubleshooting situation.
